Karin Stamy’s career spans field supervision of craft employees, system-wide safety leadership, and senior legal roles at a Class I railroad, and she has served as general counsel and outside counsel to numerous short line railroads. That experience gives her a practical understanding of railroad operations and labor-management relations.
Karin is knowledgeable about railroad operating rules, collective bargaining agreements, and all aspects of FRA/DOT regulation. As a company hearing officer, she participated in disciplinary hearings, weighed witness credibility and rendered decisions, and she has represented parties in FRA certification appeals before the LERB/OCRB. She has also conducted numerous safety-related investigations.
A graduate of the National Academy of Arbitrators’ Becoming a Labor Arbitrator program, Karin now serves the rail industry as a neutral. She is committed to giving every party a full and fair hearing and to issuing timely, well-reasoned decisions grounded in the record and the parties’ agreements.
